Estimate: CHF 850.00

Crispina, wife of Commodus. 4 Assaria (AE, 28 mm, 14.94 g, 6), Temnos, Aeolis. Draped bust of Crispina to right, her hair tied in a bun at the back of her head. Rev. Apollo standing facing, head turned to left, holding lyre resting on low column with his left hand and uncertain object in his right; at his feet to left, thymiaterion (?). Apparently unpublished, but cf. BMC 32, a coin of Commodus struck by the same magistrate. Extremely rare, if not unique. With a good portrait of Crispina and an attractive dark green patina with earthen highlights. Good very fine.
